Severe performance drop on Intel Arc A750/A770
What is happening: A driver regression on recent Arc releases affects this title specifically.
Fix: Roll back to a driver in the 537x–538x range, or to 5526 / 5601, using DDU to uninstall first. Clear the game’s shader cache and rebuild it, and report the issue through Intel Graphics Command Center so it gets tracked.
Crashes and freezes on PC
What is happening: Permissions, resource contention, or corrupted files — the usual suspects, in that order.
Fix: Run as administrator, set GoW.exe to High priority in Task Manager, switch to the High or Ultimate Performance power plan, verify game files, and disable any overclock. Try a clean boot if crashes persist.
Stutter after a driver update
What is happening: A stale shader cache built against the previous driver.
Fix: Delete the contents of %LOCALAPPDATA%\GodOfWar\DXCache and relaunch so shaders recompile.
Resizable BAR behaving inconsistently
What is happening: Arc cards usually benefit from ReBAR, but some titles behave worse with it on.
Fix: Test with ReBAR disabled in BIOS and compare frame pacing. Enable it again if there is no difference.

1. Rule out the universal causes
Verify game files, update the GPU driver with a clean install, and close overlays, recorders and RGB utilities. Across every engine, these three resolve the largest share of crashes before you touch anything game-specific.
2. Match the fix to the symptom
A crash that happens in the same place every time in God of War (2018) is usually asset or configuration damage — a cache, a config file or a mod. A crash that happens at random intervals is far more often a driver, an overlay, thermals or unstable memory tuning.
3. Change one thing, then retest
Load the same save, visit the same area and repeat the same action. If you change five settings at once you will never learn which one mattered, and you will end up reinstalling a game that did not need it.
