Methodology
GameFixPro is an independent consumer-help reference for video-game refunds, account-dispute appeals and chargebacks. This page explains where our policy facts come from, how we verify them, and where our guidance stops being authoritative.
Data sources
- Refund windows, non-refundable cases and appeal steps are summarized from each platform's official policy pages (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Epic, Nintendo and others).
- Regional consumer-rights pages summarize statutory rights from official government and consumer-protection sources.
- Chargeback guidance references published card-network rules (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and issuer policies.
- Every page carries a source link and a retrieval date so you can verify before acting.
How we verify
Every window, step and rule is checked against a primary source before publication. Anything we cannot verify is marked as pending or omitted entirely. Where a rule is uncertain or varies (for example, Nintendo's region split), we say so and link the official policy. Retrieval dates are recorded per dataset and refreshed on a versioned changelog.
Refresh cadence
The open dataset is refreshed periodically with a versioned changelog; high-traffic platforms and notable policy changes are updated as sources change. The current dataset version is dated 2026-09-10. You can cite or download the full open dataset from our Cite This Dataset page.
Known limitations
Platforms and laws change frequently, and outcomes depend on your account history and jurisdiction. We are not a law firm, a refund service, or a chargeback agency, and we do not process disputes on your behalf. Always confirm with the platform, your card issuer, or a qualified professional before acting.
