FiveM is a modification framework that lets you play GTA V on custom multiplayer servers with their own economies, jobs and roleplay rules. It runs as a separate client — not a mod of your main GTA V install — and is officially sanctioned by Rockstar.
What is FiveM?
A separate client, not a cheat.
Separate from GTA Online
FiveM connects to independent servers running custom scripts. Your GTA Online character and progress are untouched, and launching FiveM does not affect your main account.
Officially sanctioned
Rockstar's parent company acquired FiveM's developer Cfx.re in 2023, ending years of legal ambiguity. FiveM is legitimate and will not ban your Social Club account.
How to join a server
Free and quick to set up.
Install & launch
Download the FiveM client, point it at your GTA V install, and browse the server list. Most servers are free to join; some whitelisted RP servers require an application.
Pick your style
Servers range from serious police/fire/EMS roleplay to casual deathmatch and racing. Read the server rules before you spawn in — good RP servers enforce character and behavior standards.

Notable communities
Large English-speaking RP servers include NoPixel, Eclipse RP, Maze Bank and similar. Each has its own economy, jobs, custom vehicles and streamer scene. Search the FiveM server list for population and theme.
Staying safe
Keep the two worlds separate.
Never cross the streams
Play FiveM with your normal GTA V files present; do not install Story-Mode single-player mods into the same folder you use for GTA Online. Keep a clean, mod-free install for Online.
